Depot Manager – Job Description
About ECA
We have been established since 1978, supplying many local construction and joinery trades with a wide range of specialist products.
We have four depots – Coventry, Saffron Lane Leicester, Oswin Road Leicester and Stoke on Trent. We employ approximately 30 full time and 10 part time staff. We currently turn over 4 million. Our business comes in via telephone and Sales Reps (requiring delivery), plus trade counter and internet.
Trade is fast and competitive – and we have survived and indeed expanded so far by offering a fast and reliable service- plus having an eye for a sale without being too pushy.
About the Position – Basic Terms and Conditions
Hours – 8am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday, Thursday till 7.00pm.
Saturday Rota 8.30 – 12pm
(Rota – 2 week in 3. Time off in lieu to be taken by arrangement)
Holidays 20 days per annum plus Statutory (after qualifying period)
Sickness 20 days per annum (after qualifying period)
Lunch 1 hour per day by arrangement
Overtime – Not usually required except annual stock take – paid at standard rate
Pay – Basic up to £19,500 once fully competent and sales ability proven(reviewed end of December)
Bonuses - £2000 per year average, extra bonuses through product drive lines, new customer drivelines.

This is a key position within our new Newark operation. Counter trade is very important to us. Working alongside your manager, you will be responsible for sales, cash and stock upkeep of all showroom products. Transactions vary from small cash sales to large account customers – all processed via our merchant computer system
What We Will Expect From the Successful Applicant
We want a cheerful team player – prepared to ‘muck in’ and help other departments if necessary, in return help will be given to your department also. A pleasant and persuasive manner – not pushy – but prepared to ask for the order. An organised and professional approach – getting back to customers with correct information, not making commitments without being sure we are able to fulfil them. A pride in the appearance of the showroom. Items priced – neatly put away – promotional items displayed prominently.
It is essential that the candidate will have previous sales experience, knowledge of Builders Merchants will be preferred.
What the Applicant Can Expect From Our Company
Within reason you will be your own boss – with little interference from Senior Management. You will be encouraged to form a friendly relationship with your customers – who are normally impressed with our service. We have a very informal working atmosphere.
We will train you on product knowledge where necessary.
